>Grassroots campaign to get John Cage to number 1 fails

>The grassroots campaign “Cage Against the Machine” has failed to get John Cage’s “4’33” to number 1 in the charts for Christmas. The piece, which is silent, only reached number 21, leaving the way open for x-factor karaoke singer in chief Matt Cardle to claim the top spot. His is though under stiff competition from Rihanna. People had been trying to repeat last years success, when the brilliant Rage Against the Machine deposed Joe Mcelderry, but too many songs were floating around this time, and it seems mainstream powers will win out.
