NUS President Aaron Porter will stand for a second term. He revealed his intention in an interview in the Guardian, naturally. Before becoming President, Porter served as a Student Union Sabbatical President, and 2 years as Vice President Higher Education of the NUS.

Porter has been under a lot of pressure in recent weeks having, unfairly, been seen in some way at fault for the unacceptable behaviour of people protesting on his behalf. Allowing the protest to be called ‘Demolition’ probably didn’t help though. Despite strong media performances and a determination to his organisation’s voice heard, there is also a growing Facebook campaign calling for him to resign.

Porter claims in the interview he doesn’t want to be an MP. Expect to see him with fellow former Pres Streeting on the Labour benches come 2015 then.
