>Breaking: Government loses vote on AV Referendum date

>It is emerging that the Government has lost a vote in the House of Lords, on having the AV Referendum  on the same date as the Local Elections. This will deeply irritate the coalition leadership, who wanted the AV Referendum and Local Elections, as well as an end to Labour favouring boundaries, all in one piece of legislation.

The irony of the unelected House of Lords stalling a democratic decision on introducing a fairer voting system should not be lost on anyone. Do the Labour party think people are stupid and can’t handle two votes in one day, or do they simply want to lie to the electorate and have an AV referendum in their manifesto, but make sure it doesn’t happen it reality?
