>Mark Hughes unveiled at Fulham

>Fulham have a new manager, the former Manchester City boss Mark Hughes. Hughes was widely considered to have been harshly treated by his multi-millionaire former employers, having been removed when he seemed to be taking the club forwards.

The appointment seems a fairly shrewd one on the part of Fulham owner Mohammed Al Fayed, who accused former manager Roy Hodgson of letting down Fulham fans by leaving for Liverpool. Hughes is a talented, developing manager with a point to prove. Now he is refreshed after a break he could bring the energy, determination and fresh perspective to keep Fulham going forward.

With the transfer market slowly heating up, Hughes won’t have the same level of  funding available that he had a City. However, rumours are already starting that Tottenham target Craig Bellamy could be joining his former boss on loan, and its clear that the former Chelsea and Manchester United striker is a draw for players.  If he could convince goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer to not join Arsenal there is certainly the chance that Fulham could be in the shake up for a European place come May next year.
